Experience is one of the basic elements when making a hiring decision. Contacting previous or current employers can validate an applicant’s experience by confirming length of employment and the position held. It is a common misconception in the employment screening process, that contacting previous employers or references is a waste of time, but failure to verify experience can lead to higher rates of turnover due to lack of qualification.
